Insider Perspectives | PA Virtual Grads-Where are They Now?
For the first time in PA Virtual’s history, we have hired one of our alumni as a teacher! Former student Sigrid Gulbis was hired this past summer as a High School Math Academic Support Teacher. Ms. Gulbis entered the first grade during PA Virtual’s second year in business and graduated four years ago. This past May, Gulbis graduated Summa Cum Laude from DeSales University with a bachelor’s of science in math. “It’s interesting to see many teachers who instructed me are still at the school and now are my coworkers,” Gulbis said.

Bullying is no longer limited to children pushing and shoving on the playground where they can easily be caught and disciplined. It happens behind screens and on social media platforms, many of which parents don’t even know exist.

Did you know? Nationwide, school staff and parents are in a heightened state of concern due to the growing number of students involved in bullying. But, only 1 in 10 students who are bullied will inform a parent or trusted adult of the problem. October is National Bullying Prevention Month, so we have prepared a two-part blog series to help parents learn more about bullying. The series will help you recognize signs your child may be experiencing bullying, and give you tools to help your child resolve an issue with bullying, and offer tips for preventing bullying.

While the transition is major for some families, and routine for others, we all need to adjust to some degree. Fortunately, it’s the small things that matter most in making that adjustment.
