PA Virtual Honor Society Earns Governor's Civic Engagement Award

2020-Silver-Seal PA Virtual’s Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society, led by High School History and Government teachers Ms. Svoboda and Mr. Davis, successfully earned the Governor’s Civic Engagement Silver Award.

The Governor’s Civic Engagement Award is presented by the Pennsylvania Departments of State and Education. The award celebrates the efforts of Pennsylvania high school students to educate, engage and inform their fellow students about how to get involved in the voting process.

The Silver Level School Award is presented to schools where 65% of eligible students are registered to vote.

Members of PA Virtual’s Rho Kappa chapter had to plan and execute a voter registration drive, make a plan to count the number of registrations collected, and calculate the percent of eligible students registered at PA Virtual.

Because of their efforts, both the Rho Kappa students and PA Virtual will receive a plaque and certificates from the Secretary of State at a regional recognition event.

Among the 42 schools in Pennsylvania that earned awards, PA Virtual Charter School is the first statewide virtual school to earn the award.
