When Nazifa began searching for the right school for her two younger brothers, she wanted more than just an online education. She was looking for a school that offered strong academics, meaningful support, opportunities for social interaction, and a learning environment where her brothers could truly succeed.
After researching different cyber charter schools, one stood out above the rest: PA Virtual Charter School.
“I did the research for PA Virtual for which one would be the best virtual school for my two younger siblings,” Nazifa shared. “PA Virtual had the highest ratings across multiple different aspects that I wanted a school to have.”
A Virtual School Experience Beyond the Screen
One of the things that immediately caught Nazifa’s attention was the opportunity for students to participate in regular field trips and in-person events.
“I like the fact that there are basically field trips every single Friday,” she explained. “They’re not just constantly staying at home. They get to experience interacting with teachers and other students.”
These opportunities helped create a balanced virtual school experience for her brothers — combining the flexibility of online learning with valuable social connections and real-world experiences.
The Benefits of Live, Teacher-Led Instruction
Another important factor for Nazifa was PA Virtual’s live, synchronous learning model. She appreciated knowing her brothers would be actively learning with teachers in real time rather than completing lessons independently.
“I prefer them to be synchronous rather than asynchronous,” she said. “I think they thrive better that way.”
As a learning coach, Nazifa plays an active role in supporting her brothers throughout the school day. She helps keep them on track during live lessons, assists when needed, and works alongside their teachers to ensure they stay successful academically.
“They sit at my desk, and I basically sit behind them and watch to make sure they’re attending their live lessons on time and getting their homework done,” she shared. “If the teacher says, ‘Ask your learning coach for help about something,’ I’m usually there to help them.”
Building Friendships and Exploring Interests Through Clubs
Outside of the classroom, Nazifa’s brothers have found opportunities to explore their interests and connect with other students through PA Virtual’s clubs and activities.
Currently, they participate in:
-
- Wholesome Gamer Club
-
- Dungeons & Dragons Club
-
- Writing Club
-
- Rocks and Gemstones Club
These extracurricular opportunities have helped them stay engaged, build friendships, and discover new passions along the way.
Academic Growth and Confidence
Nazifa has been especially proud of the progress her youngest brother has made since enrolling at PA Virtual.
“He’s not someone who likes to sit still for very long periods of time, but he’s a very good student,” she said.
With encouragement, support, and a learning environment designed to meet his needs, he flourished academically — even earning acceptance into an accelerated course.
“With a little bit of pushing from me — and honestly, very minimal pushing — he got accepted into the accelerated course,” Nazifa shared proudly.
