At PA Virtual, we love celebrating the success of our students — past and present. Today, we’re excited to share the story of Quinn Jamison, a 2022 graduate who balanced a passion for dance with academics and published her first book the same year she graduated.

Finding the Right Fit

Quinn, whose given name is Quinlan, chose PA Virtual after seeing how it benefited her sister. For Quinn, cyber school was the perfect solution to balance her busy life as a dancer. “Dance had become my life, and with the number of hours I spent in the studio each week, a traditional public-school schedule was nearly impossible,” Quinn explains. On top of that, she had experienced bullying in traditional school settings. PA Virtual offered her a safer and more supportive learning environment where she could thrive.

A Typical Day at PA Virtual

Quinn began in synchronous classes but switched to asynchronous learning to gain the flexibility she needed. “I could finish my schoolwork during the day, then practice dance if I had extra time before heading to the studio for three hours each night,” she shares. Supportive teachers made all the difference. “They were always so encouraging, which made it easy to stay motivated and on track.”

Memorable Teachers and Experiences

One teacher, Mrs. Bacon, stood out to Quinn. “I had her twice, including the year I graduated from AP English. She warned me that keeping up asynchronously might be difficult, but I never fell behind. She always made sure I knew how proud she was of me. She was so supportive of my writing and genuinely impressed by my work.” Quinn fondly remembers discussing Their Eyes Were Watching God with Mrs. Bacon, calling her “truly a great teacher.”

Lessons That Last a Lifetime

PA Virtual gave Quinn more than academic knowledge — it taught her discipline and time management. “With asynchronous classes, I had to hold myself accountable and stay organized, which is a skill I’ve carried into everything I’ve done since.” She also learned how to balance school with her passion for dance, building confidence for the future. “PA Virtual gave me a chance to learn in an environment where I felt respected and supported, which made a big difference for my confidence moving forward.”

Life After Graduation

Since graduating, Quinn has focused on her writing career. “I published a time-travel romance novel and am working on my third book as well as another unrelated novel,” she shares. “The flexibility and independence I gained from PA Virtual gave me the confidence to follow my passions. Being a successful author is my life now.”

Advice for Current and Future Students

Quinn encourages students to embrace cyber school’s flexibility while taking responsibility for their learning. “It works best if you stay disciplined and organized. Don’t be afraid to connect with your teachers — they’re truly supportive and want to see you succeed.”

Gratitude and Reflection

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities PA Virtual gave me,” Quinn reflects. “It allowed me to fully commit to dance while still getting a strong education, and it gave me the tools to pursue the creative life I wanted after high school.”
